Naturelle expands machinery

Naturelle has purchased three new packaging machines. “We now pack most of the products that our growers are unable to pack themselves in our own shed. This enables us to respond to our customers’ wishes in a more efficient and flexible manner,” says Donny van Dam, Site Manager at Naturelle.

The new machines can be used to make net packaging, fill trays automatically, denest (i.e., separate) trays and print on packaging material. This will make it possible to mechanise even more links in the packaging process. The lay-out of the shed has been fully rearranged to accommodate the new machines and ensure perfect coordination between all the steps in the process, from sorting to shipping. This approach is entirely consistent with the LEAN philosophy that was introduced at Naturelle recently. Some new machines also help to save packaging material: “We now have the possibility to print on foil, which means that in some cases stickers have become superfluous,” Donny van Dam explains.

In addition to improving efficiency, the new machinery enables Naturelle to package even more product groups at its own facility than before. As a result, the company will be able to respond to its customers’ wishes in a more flexible manner.
